Invest Gatwick Diamond has agreed a new partnership with the China UK Business Development Centre (CUKBDC) to develop trade, investment and business opportunities between China and the Gatwick Diamond.
The partnership will bring together Invest Gatwick Diamond’s work with businesses and investors across the region with CUKBDC’s established network and relationships across major Chinese cities and economic regions.
The aim is to create a two-way business and investment corridor: helping Chinese businesses and investors identify opportunities in the Gatwick Diamond, while giving businesses in the region access to relationships and potential trade and investment opportunities in China.
The partnership will explore opportunities including business introductions, investment projects, trade relationships and future delegations. It will also look at how increased business and investment activity could support demand for stronger air connectivity between London Gatwick and China.
Brett North, Executive Director at Invest Gatwick Diamond, said:
“It’s about turning relationships into business. We want companies and investors in China to have a clear route into the Gatwick Diamond and, equally, we want businesses here to be able to build relationships and find opportunities across China.”
The developing relationship with Shandong Province provides an early example of the approach, with the wider CUKBDC network providing opportunities to explore links with other Chinese provinces, cities and economic regions according to sector, trade and investment interests.
For the wider Gatwick Region, the partnership adds another dimension to its growing international investment and trade connections. Through Invest Gatwick Region, partners are working to present the region as a globally connected gateway for investment, with London Gatwick at its heart.
The partnership also aligns with wider efforts to strengthen international business relationships across the region. Cllr Bella Sankey, Chair of the Sussex & Brighton Strategic Authority and Leader of Brighton & Hove Council, welcomed the agreement and highlighted the value of building the networks needed to make opportunities in China more accessible to businesses across Sussex.
The new partnership is part of a wider focus on strengthening the Gatwick Region’s international business relationships and connecting local opportunities with global markets.
Gatwick Diamond Business, through its inward investment activity, is already working with regional partners to promote investment opportunities and support international engagement across the wider Gatwick Region.
As the China-UK partnership develops, the organisations will explore opportunities for businesses, investors and public sector partners to connect, collaborate and develop new commercial relationships.
Invest Gatwick Region is proud to have gdb as its Inward Investment Lead and Associate Partner.
