Gatwick Diamond Business launches first Shandong trade mission

19 October, 2026

Gatwick Diamond Business is opening the door to new international trade opportunities, inviting UK companies to join its first business mission to Shandong Province and Shanghai, China, from 31 October to 7 November 2026.

Organised in partnership with the China UK Business Development Centre (CUKBDC), the mission aims to help businesses explore new markets, build commercial relationships and identify potential customers, partners and routes to market.

The delegation will begin in Jinan, the capital of Shandong Province, with company visits, sector briefings, business meetings and targeted matchmaking. It will then travel to Shanghai to attend the opening two days of the 9th China International Import Expo (CIIE) on 5 and 6 November, connecting participants with businesses, buyers and industry representatives from China and overseas.

Shandong is China’s third-largest provincial economy, with strengths across advanced manufacturing, energy, agriculture and food, healthcare, technology and consumer goods. The mission builds on relationships developed through the recent UK–Shandong programme, creating opportunities to explore where UK expertise, products and services could complement the province’s industrial and commercial strengths.

Brett North, Executive Director of Gatwick Diamond Business, said the mission was about turning established relationships into practical commercial opportunities, giving businesses the chance to meet potential customers and partners and better understand the market first-hand.

For companies considering international expansion, the organised delegation offers a supported starting point to explore opportunities, make connections and assess potential commercial fit.

UK businesses are invited to register their interest, with places limited and participation subject to confirmation.
